13:15-14:00 Mesoporous silica nanoparticles as a versatile drug delivery platform
13:15-14:00 Mesoporous silica nanoparticles as a versatile drug delivery platform
Jessica Rosenholm has been focusing on drug delivery the past ~20 years, ever since she started her MSc thesis project in Physical Chemistry on controlled release from mesoporous silica matrixes. Since then, she has co-authored over 150 publications mostly related to drug delivery and related biomedical applications of the materials developed within her research group. Her thesis work “Modular Design of Mesoporous Silica Materials: Towards Multifunctional Drug Delivery Systems” was awarded national and international prizes, e.g. the Akzo Nobel Nordic Research Prize 2009 for best doctoral thesis and research activity in colloid and surface science in the Nordic countries. Her research interests concern 1) the development of nanoformulations for a broad range of cargo, e.g. hydrophobic and hydrophilic drugs, biomolecules, and molecular imaging agents; 2) synthesis of composite nanostructures for attaining multifunctionality, e.g. nanoantibiotics; and 3) evaluation of the potential and applicability of the developed nanomedical agents for in vitro and in vivo drug delivery and biomedical imaging together with our cross-disciplinary collaborators. Currently the BioNanoMaterials group is also involved in exploring other types of novel technologies such as microfluidics and 3D bioprinting e.g. for tissue engineering.
The seminar will be held online through zoom. Please contact Björn Wettermark for zoom link.
Warmly welcome!
